FUNERAL RITES FOR TWO HEICHEL BROTHERS LISTED

Double military funeral services for two young brothers from Croft, Clearfield County, who enlisted together, fought together and died together in the same battle, will be held from Leavy's funeral home her Thursday, June 14, at 2:30 p.m. Victims of the Chochiwan sector battle in Korea last July 12 were Pfc. George Heichel, 20, and Pfc. Homer A. Heichel, 19, sons of Walter A. and Ruth Fisher Heichel of Croft. First reported as missing, the two young soldiers were listed as killed in action in a notice sent by the Defense Department to their parents last December. George and Homer enlisted in the Army Dec. 23, 1948. Former residents of Pine grove Mills in Centre county, the boys, with their parents and one sister, Jane, 8, moved to Croft about 13 months ago. Jane is the only child left in the family. Surviving them are their parents, their sister, Jane, and Mr. and Mrs. David Heichel of Tyrone, R.D. and George Fisher of Lock Haven, Grandparents. The bodies are being returned to Leavy's Funeral Home her from Korea Tuesday. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday and until time of services Thursday. Rev. R. R. Croyle of the Trinity Methodist Church of Clearfield will be in charge of the service. Interment will be in Crown Crest Cemetery, Clearfield. Full military rites will be conducted by veterans groups from the local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts. Isaac Robinson, in charge of the color guard and firing squads of the two posts said that Heichel funeral will mark the first double funeral he has helped conduct for two brothers killed in the military action in his 33 years of assisting in such work.
