Coalport - Military rites for PVT. Joseph P. Krahel, 20, former Coalport resident who was killed in Korea., July 14, 1950, will be conducted at St. Basil's Catholic Church here, at 9 a.m. tomorrow, by Richard L. Beers Post, Coalport Veterans of Foreign Wars,
assisted by the Ashville and Madera V. F. W. Posts.
The service will be in charge of Rev. J. F. Meisinger. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery here.
PVT. Krahel was the first Coalport Soldier to be killed in Korea, and is the first casualty from Korea to be returned to Coalport for reinterment.
A son of the late Peter and Mary Krahel, PVT. Krahel is survived by three brothers, Albert, Peter, and Steve, all with the Armed Forces, and one sister Margaret of DuBois.
Born in Cambria County., PVT. Krahel lived at the home of his Uncle John Sukala, in Rosebud., prior to accepting employment at Erie, Pa., in the fall of 1948, He enlisted in the Army, at Erie., prior to leaving Coalport., he attended the former Beccaria Township
High School.
